Welcome Parents!
You are a valuable part of your child's learning, and Mr. Hosler would like to work with you to ensure their success.
Importance of Connections
Why should parents and teachers work together to assist student growth? What is the teacher's role in the learning process? What is the parent's role? Let's explore some perspectives that can change learning for the better!
1. Parents KNOW their child best, and teachers thrive to learn about them
2. Knowing how to support your child helps provide the best resources for them
3. Parents who connect with teachers have a greater understanding of the learning goals and process
4. When the day ends, what learning can begin? Home reinforcement is key to solidifying the learning happening at school
5. Students love to share their successes. The more parents and teachers work together, the more successes occur

Connect with other Parents
Parents are incredible resources! They can help communicate content learned at school with real-life experiences at home. But other parents, and the connections with those parents, can provide lasting relationships throughout the classroom, school, and beyond. Taking a common interest and sharing it with one another can also create connections between students, enhancing their confidence and collaboration. In what ways can parents connect with each other?
1. Common Interests
Take this quick Interest Survey, and share what you enjoy. Mr. Hosler would be glad to connect you with other parents like you, if you wish!
2. Attend concerts, after concert celebrations, and other community events to connect with other orchestra parents.
3. Reach out to Mr. Hosler and see how you can share an interest you have with the class/program. We might find others who share your passion!
4. Join us for a new evening event just for string parents and students called "A Knight in the Classroom". See the section below for more information, and send Mr. Hosler a message if you are interested in learning more.
5. Be a Part of the Future of the orchestra program at Kenowa Hills below!

A Knight in the Classroom
This is a new, but very inspirational evening for parents and students, bringing us together through music. Students attend class and learn new material weekly, but parents might only be active when students need them, or there is a performance. This night turns the table, and parents and students will love it!
Students, come and bring your instrument, and invite a parent or adult join you. We will take a beginning orchestra class, and transform it into an adult learning experience! Parents will be the students, and students will be the mentors, and along with Mr. Hosler, we will create the classroom experience for your adult. PARENTS: If you have ever been interested in playing, wonder HOW your child does it, or what you can do to support them, this is your night to learn!
Because we know that your time is valuable, each class will only last 1 hour. We will schedule one event a month, as long as there is interest. During each night, we will learn basics, have some warm-up fun, and connect our experiences before we leave. Nonjudgemental, Non-threatening, and not your typical Knight in the Classroom!
