Giving Bach
Below is all the information for an INDIVIDUAL Giving Bach project. Under the information are videos for the pieces you are working on.
Welcome to your chance to INSPIRE! This project will provide you the opportunity to share your talents with members of the community who rarely, if ever, get a chance to see a classical concert. Below outlines the performance, along with the poster project your group will turn in following the performance.
GIVING BACH PERFORMANCE
POSTER REQUIREMENTS
The rubric below will be what the poster is scored with. Please feel free to use it as you work through your poster. Remember, when all is done, this experience is about YOUR AUDIENCE!
GIVING BACH PERFORMANCE
- Introduce your group (who you are, where you are from, etc.)
- Inform your audience about concert etiquette. Be sure to be kind, and inform them about when to clap, when to move around (if they have to leave), and about flash photography.
- Inform the group about the baroque era (what is different that you will be doing during your performance)
- Perform Bach
- Go through individual instrument demos. Provide some information about each instrument. If you need ideas, look up interesting facts.
- Let the audience know about walking through the group (path to take, not touching any instruments or stands, etc)
- Perform your fun piece, and have a staff member lead the group around your performance.
- Welcome members of the group up to listen to D String Blues, and play it for them first, then work with your member to teach them a part. There may only be a couple of you, so still pair up, and maybe ask for volunteers who would like to come perform on stage with you!
- Hand your performer a certificate, and thank them. Lead them back to their seat.
- Thank the group for coming, let them know you have one more piece for them, and smile!!
- Perform Ashokan Farewell.
- Thank the audience again for coming, and tell them to have a great rest of their day.
POSTER REQUIREMENTS
- The poster must include a section about EACH of the following criteria
- Rehearsals (Pre-concert music rehearsals, communicating with members, etc)
- Announcing (Who did it, what was the experience like, did the group change anything to make it unique)
- Performance observations (What did you notice? Did any audience members do anything during performance that was unexpected? How did you feel your performance went?
- Reflections (Each member should reflect on what the experience did to them, how they felt internally, any individual observations or feelings)
- In addition, please pick AT LEAST one of the following items to enhance your poster
- Pictures of YOU performing at the event
- Pictures of the composers of your music, along with a short bio of them.
- Personal illustrations pertaining to the performance
- Pictures of the venue, audience, and one leader (worker) from the venue.
- A half page description PER PERFORMER on the following criteria
- Did all group members work together on this project?
- Did any group members not participate in any part of the project?
- Were any group members hard to work with?
- What did you do that helped the group toward success?
- Be sure to turn in your poster before the final concert for credit. This can not be made up, so if it is not completed by the deadline, it will account for a ZERO for each group member.
